For some history on the artist, Luigi’s biggest influence came from Gino Cenedese & Son, Murano’s finest and oldest glass company’s most historic and important collections, the Vetro Scavo series. This series is famous for glass creations of plates, vases, centerpieces, lamps and animals which are inspired by excavations of ancient Roman glassware and pottery to made the specific look. These pieces have a style that is obtained through the salts and oxides used during the production process. Once the glass reaches a certain temperature, the materials react to the heat creating the scavo glass, a rusted opaque look used by many Murano glass artists. The feel and texture and somewhat sandy/salty. This sculpture has no chips or cracks on it. Please see the small scuff in the photo. The tallest swan is 16″ height, 11″ length, 6″ width.
